Did you see the progress of the leaves disappear? Did they yellow and fall off/fade? Could something (rabbit, other?) be eating them? Is the stem still in tact with leaves missing or??

Interesting why the ones near the echinecea have been untouched! It is possible that the lilies will grow next year, but I think you'll probably have to wait and see (unfortunately) Perhaps someone else can give you a better answer.

The red lily beetle tends to eat the leaves and goes down to the bulb and usually you lose your lilies. However, they lay their eggs (black "blobs" usually on the underside of the leaves) and the larva feeds on the leaves and down to the stems. I had a couple potted lilies this past week where I came out and they were COVERED (almost overnight) with the black blobs. I had been reading up on the red lily beetle because years ago I lost my lilies to the infestation that hit Massachusetts and hadnt planted lilies for years. I put the affected lilies in the trash but some of my lilies other areas were not affected at all.

Stalks are still there. I wondered about rabbits and had also sprayed liquid fence on them, but seemingly to no avail. But maybe I didn't repeat that enough. Just remembered. When this all started, some leaves were left on the ground. Not so now. Most are just sheared to stalks. Never saw anything on the leaves. Which made me wonder if it was an animal. So do you think rabbits would like these kind of plants? We do have rabbit problems with other plants, but I didn't think they would like lilies.

I can't say, but I'd say that the stalks still being there is a "plus" for blooms next year unless there is something you didnt see is down the stalk into the bulb. I say hope for the best (Im an optomist). There isn't much you can about it at this point, but wait and see, unfortunately.

Val.....the same thing happen to me this past Spring 2015.....those red lily beetles are such a pest and the eggs are ugly.........so I cut my lilies down to the ground or pulled them up...it was so sad but it was not going to end......I had so many lilies in my garden over the years....but they do not attack day lillies...thank the lord...I see people buying lilies and want to say something but maybe they will have better luck.....this only happen in 2015 on Long Island, NY.....
