Thanks for your question about the ipe siding on this house. We installed it blind nailed with mitered corners. The wood was milled to a ship lap pattern to aid the blind nailing installation.

Did you stain the Ipe then? what stain did you use. Why Ipe vs. cedar?

We oiled the ipe - used ipe oil - this gives it the deep, rich color and brings out the appearance of the grain. The ipe oil is specifically made for ipe hardwoods. We used ipe because we wanted the deep color.
