Painted Ceilings

Can someone tell me if painted ceilings are still the rage? I am doing some painting all over and currently have a tone on tone treatment with my ceilings being slightly lighter than the walls... one room has a totally different color than the wall.. What to do?

If you like it, I would keep it, but if you don't or it feels 'off' to you, then I would do as you did in the rest of the house and go tone on tone. And painted ceilings are still in style!

I love the painted ceiling effects, but have not seen so many in all the latest mags! So wasn't sure.. thanks for commenting..
