I have an area of my yard that is wooded on the side of the driveway. I got tired of half my front yard just being overgrown. This area because it is adjacent to the driveway, get's some decent sun if whatever is there is tall enough to reach it. The ground seems to stay moist and there are a lot of small trees and ferns that grow. What I managed to do is cut a few paths through this area, and actually run a garden tractor through with a mower deck and really clean out some 4 foot wide walking paths. What I'm thinking about is adding some sort of ground cover to fill in the walking paths. I'd actually like to run the tractor through and mow the paths a few times of years to maintain the paths. What would be a good planting to put for this purpose. In theory I would like the cover to not grow up too tall, and to remain sort of as a walking path, I guess it doesn't matter as long as I can mow it. I don't think grass will grow as there isn't much sunlight, but the ground is pretty rich and has good moisture.
