My new neighbors cut down the most beautiful rosebush ( they must be insane!)- it has been growing by our mailboxes for 30+ years. I managed to rescue some pretty good cuttings. These were just any pieces that I could find scattered on the ground. I couldn't take care of them immediately, so I put them in a pitcher of water.

The three best cuttings are actually twice as long as they should be - about 16-18 inches. I would like to cut them in half, but they have already started producing a lot of new growth at the top. At this point, should I cut them in half or just try to use them at their current size? I don't see roots at the bottom. I plan to try one in the ground and one in a container so I am not putting all of my eggs in one basket.
