That's true, I planted a variety of seeds last year in November and I got one variety to start blooming. It's leafless but looks like the rain did it. Also depends how you feed your DR. I would start with low nitrogen, I use bloom boosters once they're six months.

All of my blooming plants are usually slow on leaves while they're blooming, probably as a matter of just conserving energy for the show.

I've never specifically encouraged the young ones to bloom though. Any bloom booster works?

Being at the tropical temperatures, my adenium always bloomed. On the other hand, to prevent my trees from being too leggy, I use a slow release like osmocote or miracle gro, with higher P-K. You can always diluted (1/4) water feed if your culture and environment allows it.

As per Mark Dimmit's web pages on adeniums, some varieties never bloom. Did you buy it when it had flowers/seedpods? if yes then be certain it will bloom. Some folks had their adeniums bloom after 2/3 years. Am sure your patience shall be rewarded with ample blooms.
