We need to start all over with our front yard and foundation plantings. I want to rip out most bushes and replace the majority of grass with plantings. Our challenges are the sloped yard, small size, and the fact that during the winter, snow piles up next to the driveway from the plows and snowblower. And the snow falls off the roof onto the foundation plantings. The current bushes have been crushed every year and some didn't survive after this past brutal winter. So we need salt tolerant plantings as well. It's just awkward all around (and unattractive!).

I'm looking for something easy to maintain and can tolerate a range of conditions as we don't have an irrigation system and cannot install one. We live in Massachusetts west of Boston so looking for 3 season color too. Any ideas, advice, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
