How do you finish a corner like this with crown molding?

You design the problem away in the design phase. Put in a smaller cabinet there. Or else you do a hideous hanging molding return. Like this, where they forgot that staggared height cabinets require staggared depth also.

That's an odd situation. Can you add 3 inches to the wall?

No that's not an option and it would be a ton of work to move the cabinets back down. I wish I'd have known this before I would have moved those cabinets all the way down against the wall. I totally didn't think about that.

what about just a block on top of the cabinet on the corner that doesn't stick out very much but enough to in the molding to in the front and then just go straight home from the cabinet back to the wall

another thing you could do is just make a u-turn with the molding and bring it back into the straight part of the cabinet

Here is a stop wall looking from what would be the back side of the cabinet if you wanted to go all the way to the way.. You'd have to finish a straight piece on the end cabinet no matter what.

Sophie I almost made that same mistake! I went and bought a shorter cabinet so they'd all be the same height to fix it. For this one though,.. I really don't want to have to go get a less wide cabinet. I think I'm just going to use a flat back and cut it to align properly at the corner.
