Underwatering?

Could it be too much watering? I water it everyday.

:-) I know because I've previously fried roots! In my planting zone, figs do fine in ground, so most of mine are planted that way. Those in pots are in partial shade. I learned the hard way. Good luck to you!

Hi Suzi. Just wanted to discuss the "partial" shade recommendation. I thought figs needed full sun or as much sun as possible. I'm in Z6 in Michigan and my figs are in black pots too. In fact I just posted a question on pot color. Being that our growing season here is very short, I wondered how much it matters if my pots were black. Thanks.

tobybul2, I can only speak for dry Mediterranean climates. Today, the temperature is 106 degrees in full sun.

What is your average summer temperature?

Sunday it will be 107 here. The ambient temp in the shade at this moment is 100 degrees F. Just walked out and checked. Figs get ripe here in full or partial shade. Our average summer temps range from 92-108 degrees F. Nights are a little cooler. Always windy.

Maybe in your zone, black pots are OK.

Thanks Suzi. It rarely goes above 90F here. In fact that might be today. Normally its 78F to 85F with high humidity.
