Not sure that we understand your question - what do you mean by "walls and the cabinet base"?

Apologies - Is the wall material - wood? What is the brown/orange colored material on the island base and the walls. Also, asked about the flooring - what material, etc. Thank you.

No apology needed. Thess are not walls - they are the cabinets. The entire kitchen is done in high gloss wood veneer. The flooring is white marble.

The effect you are seeing in the wood is called book matching.

I've seen this wood before. I have something like it in my DR table.....called "crotch mahoghany". The kitchen is gorgeous - love the white marble floor but marble in my kitchen will be on the island top - budget doesn't allow the floors! (Smiles). Still appreciate it just as much!
