Mostly I graft onto wild plum root stock/seedlings & suckers, also Nankings and Sand Cherry. Cherry plums I have layered some, works pretty good, never done from cuttings but can be done also. Also grafted some onto other plums.

Was reading your other threads and I love the methods u use to polinate ur plums my chums are just old enough for fruit but I'll have to do some of your suggestions. I found 5 sand cherries in my shelter belt they are 3-4 high I'll have to move them this fall to be amongst the chums for pollination. I notice out of the 40 chums I have there are a hand full of ripening chums Dura I think.

I more was wondering how to start new trees would they come true-to their parents if u did cuttings, suckers, seeds could I do plum to my chum grafting. I'm trying to find a way to increase my orchard by maybe 30-40 and can't afford to buy from nurseries, even though I'll be old and grayer by the time they fruit.

Most chums are grown on their own roots, suckers should do then, [check if leaves look the same] grown from cuttings you will end up the very same! Graft plums to chums works good, also apricots.
