Mommabearpackard - I know your plant is a Tillandsia and they're commonly called "airplants".

It's not unusual to see them in shops glued to various objects like you mention, however this isn't natural and although I don't grow them I do know it's not the best way to grow them.

There are Tillandsia growers on this site who could give you the cultural advice you need.

Its color tells me it likes light, and regular or less watering (I mean, it doesn't need a lot of water), but other than that, it has characteristics of a lot of tillandsias, like Victoria and Harrisii and... the search should be fun :) edited to add: it looks like it bloomed and is starting to form offsets,

That is T. 'Califano', a natural hybrid between T. bayleyi and T. ionantha.

I think your new nickname could be "The Tillandsia Whisperer" (or maybe Tilly Taddler? Air Plant Psychic?)
