My feeders are still really busy, and I'm trying to incorporate more of their favorite plants, including some that bloom late winter since the annas don't all migrate away from here. Right now, lobelia tupa and salvia hot lips are apparently worth fighting over...

My first year plant of Lobelia tupa is getting ready to bloom! I can't wait to see how the hummers react. Right now, they are busy with the cuphea and the digiplexis. And my salvia Hot Lips is also a big draw, although almost entirely white at this time of the season.

mor, let me know if you need any suggestion for winter bloomers to keep your overwintering Annas happy - I can't imagine your coastal garden is that different in climate to my Puget Sound garden :-)

I must have the pickiest Allen's & Annas on the planet.. .I have never seen them visit my three new 'Hot Lips'. They rarely taste the reportedly adored cuphea. It is a good thing they like many of the other flowers in my garden! :)

I'm a newbie. Is this a flower they normally like? I'm getting ideas for an areas I want to be a hummingbird/butterfly garden.
