Do I have Black Tip?

Hello,

We are on vacation in Hawaii and I picked up two plumeria cuttings from Walmart that (hopefully) are rooted. Unfortunately, after getting them I noticed dark splotches slowly shriveling up some of the leaves. The boxes are sealed since they are pre-inspected, so I haven't been able to open them to pluck off the affected leaves and can't until Sunday. I did pick up a non rooted cutting from a local nursery that looks fine. Can I just pull off the blackening leaves or does the whole tip have to be cut off? There's a few nodules of black around the new leaves as well. Hopefully I attached pictures to this post, otherwise I will try again.

Two plants now. Right one the little leaf is dead and the left one is getting a large black circular mark it didn't have before.

pick off the black leaves. Mist the green leaves. The tips look fine in the pictures. Black tip looks very different.

Your plants are OK. They just need some sun and warm temps to get them going. Being stuck in plastic packaging and in a low light situation is NOT what plumerias like. Think Hawaii - upper 80s, nice breeze, some humidity, warm nights, sun to part sun -- everything you went to Hawaii for in the first place!

The leaves are falling off because the growing conditions are bad. Once optimum conditions are met, growth begins, and roots will develop. Then it will retain more leaves. Those blackened leaves will absciss and fall off by themselves.

It can be difficult to transport young plants like that, especially when they still have a fragile root system. HOpe you pack them well!
