A comment in another thread reminded me of something original we did, which I don't think I've seen mentioned else where. What creative ideas did you come up with/have you seen?

This was to gain an evenly lit backsplash. To light the cooktop area, we ran our UCL lighting along the inside front of our wood hood, which has worked beautifully for us. This is with the pot lights off. It's all one run, from left cabinets to right ones, controlled by a single switch/dimmer.

I put pullouts over my fridge. One of my favorite things in my new kitchen!

Love that look with the continuous UCL between the hood and uppers.

    My modest ideas:

In keeping with the lighting theme, here is my LED install, with a lower lumen led within the shelving, just to add accent, and the under-counter lighting. It is all on one switch. Didn't think about the hood area, though it does have lighting.

My small 15" inset cabinet. I didn't order this cabinet with pullouts, like the others, because I was trying to save some money. After 3 years of dysfunction, here is my aftermarket Rev-a-Shelf that is 9". I could have fit the 11" one in there if I could open my door past 90degrees (the wall is in the way). I could have mounted the door with a kit, for a door pull out setup, but I was afraid I'd mess it up and the door wouldn't fit right. This works, and I can fit some flat items to the side. I like that it has individual pull outs so both levels are accessible. Bigger would have been nice though.

I have two (the second one is two parts). First, ours is a very modern kitchen, and we didn't have nor want a light rail under the upper cabinets, but when we put in the led strip lights, you could see them if you were sitting on the couch in the living room. We had our handyman install Shluter strips as a modern light rail and it worked great (second picture). The other is we fit the island to the slab rather than trying to fit a slab to an island and ending up with a seam. As a subset of that, we planned for an empty space in which to install the electric for outlets on the front and back of the island.

Technically, this is our sunroom which is connected to our kitchen. DH thought the kitchen counter was storage for his icky(but important) bicycle helmet, gloves and bottles. I designed this area with two caves. We can both store and hide our goodies. As an added bonus, I have my reading nook.

Both caves have a pull out "bread" board as a staging area. I use mine to hide a few favorite recipes and a landing pad for my iPad recipes.

Both have internal power to charge toys - but that part didn't come out as nicely as I planned.

Later, I might post my failed drawer fix - although most have seen.

When we decided to put an access door from our kitchen into the garage, code required it to be a fire rated door. They are very ugly doors, IMO. So I ordered a plain flat front door and painted it with chalk board paint. Then I asked my contractor to trim it in wood for a more finished look. Added bonus - it's magnetic too.

Ours was an accident - I bought the wrong UCL led lighting. The electrician wanted hard-wired and I bought plug-in. He had to put outlets in the 2 cabinets flanking the sink and run the plugs there. So, without planning it, I have a charging station on the lower shelf of one of the cabinets. It was well worth giving up one shelf to get the ipads and phones off of the counters.

Anything we did that seems "creative" to our friends is based on an idea I saw here, so you've probably seen them all before. Including Ann's pullout over the fridge! (We have the booze stored up there as it's pretty high and out of the way, so the joke is that if I can't get up there on the stepstool, I have no business getting into that cabinet anyway.)
