Ornamental Grass

Suggestion for planting with barberry

I need an ornamental grass suggestion. I would like to plant a hedge alternating between Japanese barberry (~4 ft spread) and an ornamental grass that isn't especially tall. This is a full sun site.

I don't know much about ornamental grasses, but I'm not interested in one that spreads - ideally it should be low maintenance. I'm in middle TN, zone 7a. Thanks.

Muhlenbergia capillaris . The pink hazy bloom might be really a knock out combination with the red foliage of the barberry. The barberry might seed a lot but the muhlies are not a heavy seeder at all. They are sometimes difficult to get started even when you try. They also come in white blooming. Pink flamingo muhly is also interesting.
