Beautiful! What is the rose that you got the bouquets from? Nostalgia? I am so jealous of how much space you have. I only have room for one more big pot and that's it, so I'm having to be super picky about what my third and final rose will be. What do you do to winter over? Last year I had a garage, but this year they'll be going in a headed spare room if I don't figure something out for outside. I wish I were back in Olympia. Washington winters are so much milder than Pittsburgh and I do hate the snow.

The bouquets are from "Double Delight"....a prolific old faithful!

It's a community roof deck that I've gradually taken over. Nobody ever complains about it:) I have a small balcony with my unit that I have window boxes and hanging baskets on but not roses.

Sorry. I don't really know much about over-wintering roses. At least not for people in really cold climates.

I just wheel the roses alongside the building wall. When it gets below 30 degrees I loosely wrap the whole bunch of them with clear, light landscape fabric. If it gets colder I wrap them in old sheets. Usually just for a week or two. I need to learn how to over-winter better in case we have a cold winter.

If I ever heard it was to get really, really cold, which is rare but not unheard of, I would wheel them down to the parking garage. So far it's been okay to keep them on the roof deck. Mainly, I try to protect them from a cold wind from the North. It can really swoop down on them in the early Spring when they have started to leaf out.

Olympia is a pretty place. They get a little colder and hotter than we do but I bet they grow beautiful roses there.

Your roses and pots are just fabulous, Barbara, but please say it aint so! I am not ready to let go of summer yet!

I know seil! I don't want to think about it! Luckily it's still shorts and flip flop weather but I even saw SPIDER WEBS this morning.....another sign. And the deck floor was wet with dew.....usually dry. I am going to savor every warm, sunny day.............we wait so long for rose season and this has been such a good summer. I like it best when it's light til almost 10 PM! But you can feel the seasonal change in the morning. I do like Autumn just don't want to think about it yet.

Thanks lollapalloo, hickdog and Sara-Ann. You are right Judy. I do baby my roses, at least compared to the mixed containers. I water everything but in the Spring I squish as many little mixed plants into a container as I can, give them some Osmocote and don't do much else.

The roses. . . . I water them, I feed them, I deadhead them, I give them the fragrance test, I examine each and every one almost daily. . . just because it gives me pleasure. They are my babies:)

It looks like a vacation place.

Mine need to shape up!! My DD roses have NEVER looked that beautiful. Granted this is DD's 2nd season here - but the flowers always looks small and sickly. Yours are astounding!!!!
