Hello, thanks for your question. The standard paint is a powder coat, however the surface has fine texture so it can be painted over and will take the paint well. Painting or altering the mailbox will, however, void the warranty. Happy Houzzing!

Thanks for responding...I already purchased it from Amazon, since the timeframe I needed it and received an answer to the question I asked didn't quite correspond...there was no warranty that I am aware of, but good to know about it being voided if the mailbox is "altered".
