We have a 2 year old Kitchenaide Dishwasher that has been alot of trouble (basically, broken plastic parts in the upper basked. Today, when trying to run a normal cycle, it made a series of loud knocking noises and never ran the cycle. I tried to run the rinse only cycle, and it sounded like water entered the dishwasher, but did not drain. I canceled the rinse only cycle after a minute in order to prevent the dishwasher from flooding. The knocking noise appears to come from the area where the drain pump is located.

The garbage disposal is not clogged, and there appears to be no kink in the drain hose.

Is this indicative that i need a new drain pump? Is there something else I can check?
