I would not use high gloss paint on the ceiling the lighting will bounce off it in a very bad way and it will have the effect of actually making the ceiling feel lower I never reccommend high gloss paint as it shows every tiny imperfection on the ceiling or the walls a nice eggshell is scrubbable and without the glare.

Hi gloss on ceilings reminds me of 'institutions'...like jails. Patricia is right on. If you want to paint the ceiling a sky-blue, you will want to work with a lower gloss. It is more forgiving and will translate easier to a livable space once the kids outgrow the play area.
