what has been your weather this season...

i am not much impressed with leaf damage in august ... on deciduous plants ...

there is simply no reason to treat it for anything ... especially a 6 year old shrub.. that you could cut to ground.. and not kill ... which i see you did ..

Yes indeedy. Bridalwreath spirea is one of these old-time favorites which still have their place in today's landscape. But in my experience, these are about as trouble-free of plants as exist. Spray spireas? Never even heard of it. Like Ken, I'd like to see more of the plant. Now don't get salty, but I'm not sure from the pic provided that that's even a Spirea. Can you give us that overall view?

Oh it's trouble free alrightyo. Never dies, just always looks like it wants me to pull the plug. Clusters of white flowers, in a couple patches hither and yon. They die out and others come in somewhere else. The whole process is a month later than all the other bridles I see at the arboretum and the flowers come and go for a couple months. Erratic is the word to use. Those yellow leaves and rust spots will increase throughout the summer and by early fall most of the leaves will be gone and it will look like it's on life support.....then the whole process starts over the next year. I was told to cut it back and I did. The spraying I did was a couple years ago thinking it would help. Maybe next spring it will surprise me...I doubt it. it's in a prominent space that needs a showy plant. Might just dig it up and put it in a less obvious location.

Yeah, I'm thinking, why mess with it if it's in an important spot? Such a common plant, life's too short to spend too much time on any one poorly performing shrub.
