Very sick Amorphophallus konjac-- what's wrong?

This plant looks so bad that I'm really embarrassed to post it here. My konjac has had a bad year. Early in the summer I put it outside in a spot that had too much sun and part of it got sunburned (though now that I think about it, the leaves already had some lighter green splotches even before I put it outside). I then moved it to a shaded part of my porch, but it has only slowly gotten worse. Leaves dry out from the center in, turning yellow and then brown. Some leaves also develop water-soaked spots that later dry out. All the veins are still firm and healthy looking, as is the stalk. It has been up this year since mid-May.

What do you think, Gardenweb? Is this due to just improper culture or has it caught some kind of fungus or virus? This is my third year with this plant and the first where I've had this issue. Input and advice appreciated.
