Some pics with a smoky glow

We are currently surrounded by fires all over northern CA. Had a couple real close ones in the last week or so. But thankfully our wonderful firefighters are staying on top of anything that crops up locally. The sky this morning is hazy and it's creating an orangey glow all over the garden. I tried to filter out a lot of it in these photos, but it still comes thru on most of them.

BELLA'ROMA

BLUE PARFUM - the haze is so bad, it makes this rose look pink instead of mauve, and trying to tweak in some blue only made it look unnatural

BOTTICELLI

BRASS BAND

DUBLIN - I love that purply edge, but in real life the main color is much more pink than this red

DUCHESSE DE BRABANT

FAME! - the glow is blinding!

KUROSHINJU - is actually much more black-red than it shows up here

MELLOW YELLOW

OKSANA - she looks positively orange, which she is not! Much more pink than this..

RAPTURE - here's a rose that I haven't seen bloom in yrs! Was suffocated by overgrown underplantings. So glad I finally got them cleared out!

RED INTUITION - horrible pic... the glow is just too intense

ROSETTE DELIZY

SWAN LAKE CL - finally am getting some good blooms on this one since I got it planted in the ground

WORTHWHILE - also looking waaaay more orange than it is

Boy, I didn't realize just how much this haze would effect the photos. I just hope we don't start getting actual smoke filling in around us like a few yrs ago. We'll have to wear masks then! And I'm surprised we haven't had ashes yet! (Geez... I better shut up!)

The pictures are still fabulous, Beth! I hope the fires are contained soon and there is no more damage for anyone!

I hope my Duchesse de Brabant looks like yours when she starts blooming. She's still tiny right now but growing fast. Your pictures are wonderful as usual. Thanks for sharing. Oh yeah, I have to check into Botticelli!

Thanks guys! I was just outside cleaning beds, in the shade. But out in the sun you can really feel the UVs coming thru the haze. It's muggy-hot! Yuck...

Beth, I dunno if anybody has BOTTICELLI anymore. I got it from Hortico quite a few yrs ago. It's a really good rose. Blooms like a weed! Stays about 3ftx3ft. I love it!

It must be scary being so close to the fires. I hope the fires don't come anywhere near you.

As to roses, I really love your Dublin, Duchesse de Brabant, Kuroshinju, and Red Intuition!!!! That purple on Dublin is AMAZING!!!! So that's not a usual color?? Wow!!! Kuroshinju also has an amazing red!!!

I'll have to put Botticelli on a dream list if it is no longer available. It is still under patent I think so maybe someone will have it sooner or later.
