Star Jasmine, Tangerine Vine,

DON'T PLANT CAT'S CLAW.

I have it it all around my yard and it is the bane of my existence. It gets into everything and it won't friggin die. So awful the landscapers even give up. My jasmine on the other hand, is not a terror. Much better option and smells nice.

Tangerine Vine is good as it stays green/leafy yearr-round. Trumpet vines lose all green and are sticks for part of the year. I have Lady Banks Rose growing around front door entry arch-eastern exposure; stays green and is gorgeous bloom for about 2-3 weeks per year (wish lady banks bloomed longer). I'm trying a Hardenbergia on a wall with eastern exposure--too soon to tell.

Pay attention to how much litter any vine makes if near pool. I had a snail vine that was real pretty but made a ton of litter; replaced with the tangerine vine; less litter. Avoid bougainvillea as too much litter to be near a pool.

You've gotten lots of great suggestions, let us know what you select and how it works out. We love updates! I would also suggest 'Tangerine Beauty' crossvine as a plant to consider. I've grown it for years and love it. Full sun and occasional frost won't bother it at all. It's evergreen, flowers heavily in spring with a nice repeat in autumn, and occasional flowers in summer too. It DOES need a bit of help climbing (something narrow to grab/twine around) but otherwise it's a great choice.
