I would have gone black trim and a black dooror even a red door. I assume this is vinyl trim so painting might be a problem.

Black trim. Paint door white. It needs to be different from trim. It is the jewel of the home.

i'm thinking someone decided they looked better with no grey showing below the window trim than a little bit. approach the situation understanding what smaller trim would really look like up there.

i agree, it looks odd but sometimes odd is better than wrong.
