What can I do to this 70's kitchen

I just purchased a home and it needs a lot of updating. I want to gut the kitchen in a year or two, what can I do now to give it a facelift?

The easiest way to update is paint ,clean everything first then paint ,cabinets BM white dove ..trim and ceiling BM decorators white...this is the most popular whites for kitchens and will give you a nice clean bright kitchen..just paint until you get ready for major upgrade,anything else is wasting money

Paint the cabinets and add new hardware to them.

I would paint the walls and change the light fixtures. Leave the cabinets, painting them would take too long, instead put down a cheap floating floor. The more you save the sooner you can gut. Oh fix/replace anything that is broken.

Thanks Susy, if I keep the cabinets why color should I do the floating floors?

Dark brown for the floors, and a greyed green or blue for the walls, between a middle to light value.

White floor will work you to death ,you can easily paint those with Annie Sloan chalk paint ,no sanding or prep ,just a good cleaning first, comes in all colors ...google it
