Oh those dastards!

I'm growing some peanut pumpkins in a dog pen, but some will escape. This guy was hanging on the outside--looked okay to me.

Then I looked at the back......

Fortunately, the deer hate the sticker weeds growing on the east side of the pen.

This guy is bigger than any in the pen so I have high hopes. Oh, and in case you're wondering the dastards are a herd of deer that visit my garden a few times a day.

How kind of you to offer refreshments to your guests!

Seriously, that must be so annoying, to make the effort to grow something and have critters ruin it.

My flower beds are gone, so I started planting stuff in dog pens. Doesn't work out too well for the pumpkins because they don't want to be "fenced in". LOL

When the pumpkins start growing in the weeds I have to say that weeds are good for something.

Update--I thought I was safe......

It's been unusually warm so I didn't harvest my pumpkins until today...

Here is a picture of the big pumpkin that was growing in the weeds. (the black stuff is just dirt; it's been raining hard for the past few days)

Thought I'd be making some pies out of this beauty--until I turned it over....

The deer will be getting this one after all. I did get some others, but none had as many "peanuts" as this one.
