Chop them off.

You in see how there are three lobes to the leaves? That's how you know it's not Meyer lemon. If the one behind in the picture doesn't have 3 lobe leaves then you can leave that one. But the front two for sure need to be removed.

Thank you - now that I know what I am looking at - there are at least 5 really tall shoots with that leaf configuration and thorns which the others do not have - should they all go?

Joanne, now you have a Meyer lemon tree; if you had left it alone, very soon the rootstock growth would have overtaken and likely killed the Meyer scion.

Thanks to this group - I never would have known what was happening. By a fluke was thinking about if I should prune it and how.
