change the door placement to the opposite of the front door.

the wood blinds add nice texture. I would add new pillows, and maybe recover the built in seat pad. also add some hardware to the doors.

Please make sure that I understand, you think I should put a new door in that has the door handle on the left? Do you think that I should stay with the plain flat panel closet or change to the 6 panel to match the front door. Or, is it ok to go with a 2 panel? I will be painting the closet door, but I thought I would leave the front door as it is.

I believe that flair lighting means this: You should remove the closet door entirely and move it around the corner so that it faces the front door. Then you'll have that area available for storage like a scotch chest, and a nice lamp to brighten that side of the room. See attached image. You should match the closet door to the rest of the interior doors in the house; so if the front door is the only 6-panel, you should use the same solid closet door that you have now.

White trim looks good around paneled doors, but not so much around flat hollow core doors. I changed mine out for wood 6 panel - I have a wood and white thing going because while I like the brightness of white, I love the warmth of wood too. However, the wood paneled doors are more expensive than the white because the white are painted MDF. There are also some really inexpensive pressed board white paneled doors - actually hollow core but look like paneled. They are a bit flimsy like most hollow core doors so if you have several active children running around you might lean towards a solid core door.

My railing has white spindles with a wood banister - I have a cottage / traditional home.
