Hi - I have an old house with pine trim that was painted long ago. Through the years the edges of the trim are no longer sharp - that is, they look soft and dented. I want to re-do my floors and cabinets but the woodwork will still look old. I was wondering, if I took some paint a shade darker than existing and painted over just the flat part of the trim and not the edges of it, would that give the illusion of a straight edge? I can't rip it all out so any other suggestions on improving the look of the trim would be much appreciated. Thanks.
