I grow kabocha and some butternut this year. The kabocha is still relatively hard to grow and the yield is low. I think my soil has something to do with this. So I plan to grow kabocha again next season.

Besides kabocha, what else do you recommend? To me, taste means more than others. I can think of buttercup (just like kabocha), butternut, acorn and hubbard. Not sure if I'm missing anything good.

Also, I may have to choose the varieties since the cross-pollination will be a problem in saving seeds...
