How do these hinges attach?

I wish to use them on cabinet door in an Art Nouveau bathroom. Must the door be a 90 degree angle to the door frame? or will it work with both hinges flush to each other as shown in photo?

    These are not hinges. They are hinge plates that go next to the hinges on a door to give them a decorative look. You would place them against the flat end of the hinge. The hinge plate has three separate holes for screws to fit into for attaching it to the door.
