Coordinating paint color?

We've just redone a powder room and are using the attached wallpaper on one wall only, opposite the entry door. Looking for a color to paint the remaining 3 walls. One of those wall has a floating sink, white, so we'd like it to be rich enough to make the sink pop. Any ideas out there?? Thanks in advance!!! (ps colors are a little more subdued than in the photo, it's yellowish. Bird is coral/terra cotta and background is like a slate/denim blue. Clouds are very pale blue)

Powder rooms can go a little less conservative than almost any other room. I think my personal preference would be the coral of the birds. It is also a very flattering color for the faces in the mirror, too. Hand towels could be the stark white (always timely).

Do the whole room in the same wallpaper. How dramatic that would be. A room so small needs only one type of wall covering. You just created your own dilemma.

if you have more rooms to decorate some day, its worth buying a fandeck from the paint store of your choice. then you can match away at home, in your own lighting.

You could try color matching the paint to the background blue which would be dark enough for the white sink to pop. I think the paper is really fun!

Or my least favorite would be to do a chair rail and paint white under it. Then do all 4 walls in paper on top.

the truth is its difficult to paper a single wall. walls are rarely square to each other, and the paper is left either being cut at an angle (noticeable) or cut sharp and square and not covering the way it should. even if you try to match the blue exactly, it will be plain and dark and have a different sheen. disappointing outcome on a fabulous paper.

i'm with leelee, do all four sides of the top 2/3.

Thanks all! Still trying to sort it out. I love the paper and would do the whole room but the paper hanger messed up the $650 paper already in there so we are loathe to spend much more. Long story! Can't do chair rail/wainscoting bc house is very contemporary and that wouldn't be consistent. Frustrating!

If you have an uneven or out of square wall across from the entry door, just match the blue of the background color for the remaining walls & it will not be noticed. Good luck & make it fun.

Fortunately the walls are pretty straight since they were just put up...

I think i might have a color for you, Behr Japanese koi, it keeps popping up in my searches, and maybe it is meant for me to give to you. If it seems over powering, you may wish to do the walls in the dark gray and then like pictures of the koi, i will give you some idea what i mean with a pic, ok?

You could do either an orange as the birds or a dark blue..both would make the sink stand out

I think I just want to move into that living room!

I am with you cf! What i really love is that it contains modern and classic design. There is no doubt it is elegant, but if you look at those pillows real close there is definitely a sense of humor, it is like being home.

ok, now i see, missed description. So in that case why not do the walls in Ralph lauren's denim blue with the koi as accent. I have a really cool rug idea. weave a rug out of old jeans then make it square or cut it round, give you that bit of humor in all that formal. I hope your mirror has a gold frame, that would be so perfect. I think i have a pic of similar if you want. i have to be careful, i tend to overshop with these things! lol
