I'm currently building a new home with my husband,
He likes the espresso cabinets and a colonial white granite countertop and I'm all for a classic white with a black Irish granite top. I still have a lot of time to make a decision but I'm still indecisive. So many options so much time. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Also backsplash ideas that won't break the bank!

That space looks awful small for too much dark

I know you have not asked for this but I really recommend that you review the location of your dishwasher. I think you will be in an uncomfortable position to load and unload the dishwasher. You will either be squeezed between the sink and the dishwasher door (opened) or standing too far.

I was thinking the same thing as suzannem because I had a corner sink with a dishwasher that close and I hated it. I suggest moving it over a bit.

I definitely want my sink facing out into the common living space because I have no windows in the kitchen. The layout is kinda bothering me. I wonder if shifting the sink over a bit to the right would make space for the dishwasher on the left hand side of the sink.

Does it have to wrap around or can it be an island with the sink and dish washer straight? Maybe bar stools on opposite side.

Circus, I'm not sure how that would work because the kitchen only has three walls, that's why the peninsula was added. To give me more work space and storage.

Couple of ideas, could the peninsula be 90* rather than angled, or maybe you could switch the big drawer and dishwasher locations.

We did medium/dark cabinets with granite colonial white. I love how it looks together. If you are worried about the dark cabinets making the space look small do a very light backsplash. Thats what I was worried about too and trying to figure out what design and tile to go with but I know I will be doing a white/cream glass tile. Good luck!
