I believe it to be a defective Anisota senitoria....defective, not juvenile. A juvenile moth is a caterpillar!

These moths don't feed on nectar or anything else. They live for a short time as adults, only long enough to mate.

There are wingless moths, but this isn't one of them. Moths and butterflies are frequently born with defects; they are rarely seen because they make very easy prey.

Anisota senitoria, Orange-striped Oakworm Moth, I agree, the white spots are a good clue. If you observed it for a time and the wings never enlarged then it is indeed a mature moth that never was able to expand its wings (defective).

Westmichigan, lepidopteran wings don't enlarge once they've emerged from the cocoon/chrysalis....they simply expand their already formed wings by pumping meconium fluid into them. Their full-sized wings are simply folded and wrinkled.

The moth in the pictures never formed functional wings at all; it's a deformity.

That is what I meant but obviously didn't detail it very well; thanks for expanding and clarifying the facts.
