What about a fabric that refers to the black patterned border in your rug. Imagine a pattern that's similar to your sofa pillows but with a black background instead of white. That will continue your nice eclectic feel in the room.

Not really liking the chair with the beautiful sofa. Maybe get a new chair instead of going to the expense of reupholstering?

Not really wanted to do a color like black because I have used black for so many years and I am ready for soothing neutrals.

Thank you for the advice but I cannot replace this chair. It is my husbands favorite and he said redo, replace whatever you like, just don't replace my favorite chair...(it's been passed down from great grandfather, father, to my husband.) It is also a very comfortable chair!

Since it is for a man, I would reupholster the chair in a neutral herringbone or tweed;)
