What are your thoughts on one of this these rugs & throw?

They are very 'loud' when compared with everything else in the room. The new rug pictured and the cowhide are both lovely, but neither will make the colorful chairs fit this space. The chairs have a great shape so could be re upholstered, or could go into another space where you have more jewel tones.

I like the ombre idea from kikilarue6, but I'd suggest in a grey blue, or citron yellow for some POP.

So, I LOVE the fabric on your chairs and ottoman- it's so great! A bold fabric like this is perfect on accent chairs. (Not an entire sectional!) They are the feature, and the rug is really to group the chairs with the sofa in a cohesive way.

Wayfair - This rug has a small scale geometric-ish pattern which balances with the large scale medallion on the chairs

West Elm- This rug contrasts with your grey walls and is a hard/graphic stripe to contrast with the organic medallion design on the chairs.

Is there room for the ottoman to go on the right side of the daybed? I'd also add a bright throw to bring a color of the chair onto the day bed. Choose your favorite~

Sarah Rose- thank you for your suggestion. I am a quirky person who believes things should be mixed up a bit. I hate when you walk into someone's house and it looks like they purchased the entire room from the showroom. I felt like the room needed some color and I had the chairs reupholstered with that fabric. The chairs are vintage from the 50's. After reading some of the suggestions I felt like I made a terrible mistake. I like your rug ideas and throw as well. Thanks again!

Your chairs are very colourful and that is not a bad thing. Consider a neutral rug and find some pillows for the couch with colours from the chairs.

I agree with SarahRose - I LOVE the chairs. Just change out the rug, replace the silver platter on the coffee table with something streamlined and more retro, and consider recovering the ottoman in something a little more understated that pulls the look together.

I love the chairs but they do feel a little out of place with the starkness of the rest of the room. I would go for a rug in a simple mustard tone, and then add some other colorful accessories (pillows, artwork, coffee table dec) to make the chairs feel like part of the room.

Of the rugs above, gray or the sorta yellow one.

Gorgeous space. Belongs in a magazine! I love the fabric on the chairs paired with the off white very neutral bench and the dramatic dark gray wall color. The chairs are unexpected but add interest and personality to the room. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing.

I think if the rug was in one of the colors in the chairs it would help include them in the space. Maybe also choose one of the other colors from the chairs for pillows for the sofa.

I like adding a bright color, but with a creamy paint [instead of dark color].

I love the chairs. You need to sprinkle their colors around the room. do you have any fabric left for pillows? Get a solid color rug in a neutral or one of the colors in the chairs.

Love the chairs and ottoman, you have great design instincts. With the help of the Houzzers here you will have a great room! Not loving your rug in the space, unless you have mess makers in the room, go for a plain colour taken from the chair upholstery.

i am going to describe this the best I know how, please do not get upset. Everything in the room is beautiful from the paint on up, but you seem to have 2 different rooms going, maybe 3. The dark gray walls with all the whites are very formal looking. the rug, might go in there, I would not put it there, but many would. The chairs and foot stool are not a part of that room. They are part of a more fun loving room. I agree they need a fairly solid rug. But, if you can sorta just look at them with the paint color you will see, that somehow they don't really go together. You would have to bring in other things, and then your chaise would not really go? Well this has been scarey. Please have fun with it. maybe if you put more colored things on the chaise?

No, the chairs are not that bad, hahaha, I would do a solid jute to tone it down a bit, you have a lot of red in your floors, my fear in going a bright color is that would make them stand out even more and clash with the rest of your room. Good luck!

Agree with post above. A single color rug will bring the look together; something with texture.

You might consider a white and green(picked up from the fab chairs) zebra rug or black and white

pics ref only could be another zebra print

I love the reupholstered chairs, I think you gave them a second life! As mentioned above there have been lots of great suggestions for some area rugs then add in some jewel tone colors, or pull out from the pattern, then maybe a metallic hear or there and it would look great!

Really love your chairs, I like overdyed rugs with the chairs, pick out a colour that compliments

Hi kikilarue6- WOW, what a response you've gotten from everyone! I'm glad to help, and so happy to hear that you're sticking with your gut and doing what makes you happy in your home. Design is so personal, as we all know. I hope you'll share an "after" photo with us~

May I say that I thought of the hot yellow citrus rug, but if it's not just right I think the chairs will fall flat / as the pink is imo even more "pow"...

Looking again, there's a yellow-green mix?? in chairs / and in wall. Is wall a mushroom/olive color? Maybe with searching of your paint store's complements to it, that'd have guidance. Maybe I'm too structured...!

Why did you not pull the matching ottoman into the mix? Perhaps photos of your whole room would give us better choices. I could see one of the jewel tones from the chairs for a rug & pillows & throw for the chaise & each chair placed as though they are facing into the chaise on each side, but I do not know how much room you have. I applaud you for your individuality & originality. Add a modern painting, very large somewhaere in the room to carry the theme throughout the whole space. You have gone part of the way, take it all the way.
