Baby pineapple plants are so cute! I'm excited to see your red Spanish flower more, I wonder how much difference there will be between the two flowering plants you've had. Do the Spanish reds flower red or purple like the others?

Hi again. The red Spanish flower will be all red like it is in the photo above i will keep you updated with photos the bigger it gets and the leaves close to the pineapple as it grows will get darker red too once i get some offsets do you want one to try and grow yourself ? not sure how to send one with it being so cold where your at.... someone sent me some pups from over seas from a type of pineapple plant but they died on the trip getting here they rotted would have like to try'ed to grow them.... i got some dole pineapples from the store the other day and the tops were good this time around so I'M rooting them now so far i see tiny little white roots growing so thats a good thing :)

How's the Spanish red flower doing now? Your pineapple looks delicious!

Hi again. The red Spanish pineapple is doing really good getting so big so fast i guess it does have purple flowers but the rest of it has a red tint to it let me know what ya think

Very pretty. The red leaves with the purple is cool! I wish another of mine would flower. how are you bananas? Mine got huge but I keep beating up its leaves.

The Banana plants are doing pretty good. the mother plant its self got big fast but the pups i took off the mother plant seem to be growing at a much slower rate than the mother plant did

Well now that i got pineapple seeds to Germinate. Now the next goal is to see if i can split the crown into 4 and get it to grow it wont grow any fruit but it will send up alot of offsets alot sooner than it would having to wait for the plant to fruit i was doing research about it being done so only time will tell

the flower stage is almost done has more of a red tint now can't wait to see how it turns out. and a few slips have started to grow on the stem under the pineapple i havent seen any suckers start close to the ground or leaves yet maybe it will soon only time will tell

The red does look very nice against the green. The leaves on the red Spanish are a lot more serrated then the dole ones I've grown, looks like a dangerous plant:)

Have you split and planted crown pieces yet? Make sure you take some pics it will be neat to see how they grow. Maybe I'd better try too, I left my friend in charge of my plants for 2 weeks and she thought it would be great for them to be outside where they burnt badly and and my largest from seed rotted in the rain. She forgot she had put them out:( hope some of my seeds start soon!

yeah i split the crown and potted them if it turns out good i will take a photo but at the time they don't seem to be doing that great

Here is a Photo of the Florida Special Pineapple plant of mine that flowered

Wow that is very cool in red!

Hm, my Florida special is spiny and purplish.

Florida Special is a Smooth leave plant it shouldn't have spines. Where did you get yours from

Sorry, went to check the tag. I got two different plants from a nursery and thought the spiny one was a Florida Special but it's a Sugar Loaf. The FS has smooth leaves, you're right. ) I got too many pineapple plants and they are messing with my head. :-D

No biggie. So what other variety of pineapple plants do you grow

Mostly store bought pineapples, Spanish Red, Sweet stripes, another Variegated, Sugarloaf and Kona Sugarloaf, Hawaiian Gold and Red, another Red from Hawaii (don't know the name) White Jade, Smooth Cayenne, Elite Gold... that's about it. ))

Can you post some pictures of the Spanish red plants you have? I wanna see if they look like the ones I have I know there are different variety of them

It looks like in your picture above but smaller. Haven't fruited yet.

It's the first on the left and it's a last year pic. I will post new one soon.

Thanks for Posting a photo of it looks good but should put it in a bigger pot :)

That's what I am going to do. )) I have a question about the Maui Gold. Is it the same as the Hawaiian Gold?

Yes its part of the same family of pineapples but it doesn't taste the same

Although all the Gold pineapples on the market are some variation of 73-50 and 73-114, they don't all taste the same.

Well, then I want the Maui Gold in my collection. :-D

Wow they look amazing. Do you have any flowering? I’ve only got 1 small pineapple plant growing now. A top from a pineapple I grew. Attempting to sprout seeds again, even tho I have too many houseplants for the amount of natural light I get in my new place. I need winter to be over.
