Wrong size range hood

We received a 24 inch range hood cabinet when the kitchen design called for a 30 inch cabinet. At 24 inches, our ventilation system would sit much too high for adequate ventilation for our range.
Our kitchen designer has ordered a new range hood but has given us a 7 week lead time which we feel is unacceptable. I understand that mistakes happen, but 7 weeks for a mistake on their part seems extreme. It is holding up the completion of our kitchen as the crown moulding and backsplash can't be completed. The kitchen designer says they can't get the cabinet from the cabinet maker any sooner, should we ask for a monetary credit for our inconvenience?

if you are able to cook *something* in the kitchen, then no money. its still grill weather where i live for the messy stuff.

if you are unable to grill outside then i'd ask a meal allowance only. unnecessarily complaining clients don't get better service in the end.

I feel if the kitchen designer is at fault, then a 7 week stop on the project definitely warrants some type of compensation. If you were to stop the project with a change order, oh boy, they would be the first to add $$. I would not be happy with that mistake either.

This is not the first mistake the kitchen designer made. I didn't complain about any of the other mistakes (wrong ice maker panel, another cabinet that was the wrong size that my contractor remedied, cabinet door that couldn't be opened completely). The vent hood is a pretty big mistake.

Most range specs say 30''-36'' above the range for combustible products/ aka the wood hood surround. How high is yours? What insert will you be using? What range model is below?

Our Wolf 36 inch range calls for the ventilation system to sit 30-36 inches above. If we use the existing cabinet it would sit 45 inches above the range. We have a 33" Best Pro-style custom Hood Insert.
