If you are still looking, we have sea buckthorn plants for sale at our garden centre. Http://www.grobenursery.com . Varieties available are Leikora and Lord.

I planted some Sea Buckthorn 14 years ago and while I enjoyed the plants I eventually cut them down. Sea Buckthorn in its native habitat is used to stabilize ground. Mine were spreading everywhere. I bought them from some nursery near Niagara on the Lake, which closed. I read that newer varieties of Buckthorn don't spread compared to the older varieties. Even after I cut them down 2 years ago, there are still shoots cropping up all over the place. I've seen Buckthorn in Newmarket across from Courthouse. They were used in landscaping, had fruit and unlike mine were not too tall and best of all didn't spread like mine. There are people who go by my garden ask for some shoots. I always tell them they'll regret it.

I read Richter nursery catalogue and they have Seaberrie plants, male and female, and they are no more than meter and half tall. I wish they were available when I planted mine more than fifteen years ago. There are people who asked me for young plants, because mine sent suckers all over the garden. I didn't mind giving them away, but used to tell them they'll regret it. Even though I cut mine down at least 3 years ago, there are still shoots cropping up. Maybe I'll get the new non suckering varieties. I liked the fruit and I made juice from the fruit.

Chou might consider suggesting that the plant them in pots or in a 5 gallon pierced bucket to control the suckers
