If you are a Costco member, they have some very nice rugs there. You can get to different sizes too. I would look there and see.

The cowhide is because your style seems almost a little eclectic-the pic of room was to show u the striped rug-but notice how the pics are hung. I would move yours closer together and maybe a little lower.

By adding picture frame moldngs to the entire space you'll capture a more finished look. If you can do it, add moldings at the same height as the existing and then run another row of these along the lower portion of the walls. This will give you an architectural presence to work from. Install distressed silver leaf wall paper in the new sections to tie in your table and the toile, (or simply paint and hang art in the center section above the sofa). The TV can be wall mounted inside one of these new framed sections. Repaint all of he moldings in a slightly deeper shade of your wall color. Add side panels to the window to the floor.
For the floor, think outside the box. A sisal-like flat woven rug with a small geometric design would add a layer of pattern without competing with your toile. Make the rug large enough to anchor the entire room leaving say 10-12" of wood exposed.
If the TV table will fit, think about relocating it to the wall which now has your striped chair. Use the stripe chair to the right of your bar opening and put the wood fautille chair on the left with a small foot stool, small table and lamp between them.

Since you have probably just done the toile panels just install a large architectural metal scroll piece . between the 2 panels to fill the space. Kirklands, TJ Maxx etc. have lots of options!

Thanks for all the comments so far. I'm still on the hunt for a rug for the room. I'd like to play off the grey in the room, but I was worried a grey rug would be too monochromatic. I'm hesitant about an ivory color for the stain factor, but love the clean look of ivory. My style is county-french, if that helps any.

I didn't realize the wall molding boxes would attract so much attention! They are not attached to each other and the plan was to put in a large piece of art between the 2, but I've yet to find that piece. I also don't have additional fabric to make more toile boxes, however I did like the silver leaf wallpaper suggestion.

I reviewing the Houzz site for decorating with toile...check it out...it shows many different rug options.

With your lighter furniture and walls, I think a grey rug absolutely would work. Overstock.com and RugsUsa have all sorts of choices at great prices.

what about toile plates and mirrors, in a variety of sizes? (for the in between art) and maybe even a other elements - (black/silver letters, small black and silver framed art ...) Maybe just mirrors :-)

If you can definitely move the panels closer...I'd go with a more traditional oriental with some brown and taupes but also some salmony reds and deep teal blues.

For the rug, try some samples of sisal in the room. Natural and clean this will be a good foil for the toile and the French attitude.

I like the idea of reverse framing. For the rug a blank center and a detailed border in a 9 x 12 nepal handcrafted such as these.

A large chevron pattern with black and white would make it very eclectic, if thats what you like
