Well, you definitely have a great staring point! I would try starting with easy fixes. Change the shower curtain, rug and artwork. As for the wall color... what's on your mind?

Another neutral is trickier. The counter looks a little pink to me, so I'm hesitant to suggest anything yellow. BM Monterey White is still neutral, but a little warmer than Cloud Nine.

My whole house is basically Monterey White. haha except this room which I painted the Cloud 09. The marble is definitely warm.

I am on board with everyone else: rug, shower curtain, and art.

The shower curtain looks more like a quilt. Have you thought of something with a pop of color? Are you interested in modern pieces? The rug is outdated and the art can be a fresher 1 piece, instead of 3. I would go with something as wide as the toilet and long so you can ground that area more.

I don't want you to go overboard with colors but I think this slight pop of color still keeps it sophisticated but stylish.

I think you should leave the wall color as is and I will explain why. It is neutral and will go with any color or style. Once you paint the wall in the bathroom, whether blue, gray, green, you have to forever try to compliment that color every time you change your bathroom. I change my bathroom décor with the seasons to always have something fresh and new to look at, but that is just me.

By the way, I love your vanity! We have the exact same one and people compliment on it all the time. Your faucet fixture is beautiful as well. You can always change the mirror but I would work on the curtain, art and rug first.

I am looking for something as an option instead of the art. This shelf matches your faucet fixture finish. You can put a fragrant candle on the top shelf for when visitors come over and the 2nd shelf can be used for toilet paper storage or folded up towels.

I have this print that I bought at the Washington DC National Gallery of Art while visiting our son who served in the Honor Guard. It is a memento that I want to frame and although there isn't room in the bathroom for the print, and I would not put in in there with all the moisture if there was, I was thinking of putting on the wall/hallway area next to the bathroom door. So I think this will be my inspiration?

Also as a few of you have mentioned leaving the room the neutral color, the thought just now came to me (thank you for making me think outside the box) that I might paint the bathroom (to satisfy my color craving) ceiling a pale blue, grey, lavendar? Opinions? The office/den/sleeper sofa guest room, which is right next to the bathroom is going to be done in charcoa-grey-cream specturm for a masculine vibe for Hubs.

Rubulock I agree with you about the vanity. Everyone is so pleasantly surprised when they see it. Very unexpected in the house, but everyone loves it!

What type of rug; something durable as this bath is right off the back door entry and gets a lot of use so rug has to hide dirt. Also we get little ant critters in the summer. The crawl in and then die in the bathroom; nothing is moving but after they die they just lie there! Darn! So a rug is a quandry for me. What I have now is looped wool and is tight and has a beige background so dirt is not so obvious. I love the micro fiber loops but can see all those ants and I get nervous! Maybe no rug? Indoor outdoor? This is the thing I feel I need to buy first and it is giving me fits!

My daughter, who is very creative, tells me the bathroom is perfect as it is, so I appreciate others who have said leave it the neutral that it is. And I see the value in that, but what if I painted the ceiling? Maybe a sky blue or pales lavendar or maybe grey? I mention grey because we have an office/den/sleeper sofa room that I want to do in greys/charcoals for a masculine touch for Hubs!

W Brown that neutral oh so tiled bathroom is truly to die for! I would like to do something like that for our Master bathroom. We have the same yellow fiberglass in all three bathrooms and our master has a walk in shower in the yellow; I am trying mightily to talk hubs into tiling the shower to match the rest of the bathroom that we refinshed, so I am glad you posted this picture! Thank you! Will save it.

The ceiling would look nice a very light shade of blue, almost pale blue. Blue compliments the wood tone of cabinet and would look very nice with the contrast of the neutral wall. The blue will also give the illusion that the ceiling is higher.

Yellow is tricky, I understand your husband's trepidation, but he'll have a harder time arguing with that picture. A paint deck will help you match your finishes when you get to that point and lots of samples. Good luck!

I have a painting with similar colors in our bedroom of a cabin with mountains in the background. It reminds me of our vacations in VA.

I think your painting will go nicer in a study or office; however, what is directly outside the bathroom door? Is it a long hall? If so, then it will go nicely there.

I have had artwork in my bathroom for years. All I had to do was remove it from the frame and use clear silicone to seal between the glass and the frame. After I reinserted the mat and artwork, I added a thin waterproof backing and sealed around the edges on the back, again with silicone. I've had no problems with water getting in.

Here is my vanity. It is kind of hard to take a picture since we enter from the side of the vanity but here it goes. I will take another angle as well.

I love my vanity, it is something different that you don't see in every house! I like your faucet better though. I have glass enclosed shower doors so my colors must come from the rug and the candle and the art, but like I said, soon it will be my snowman white and blue candles and hand towels.

Here is the painting that I told you I have that is similar to yours (at least the colors are)! It is on the wall where the crib is. As we were renovating the house, we had an unexpected surprise so the crib was not part of our original design....LOL!

I tend to agree that blue would work better than yellow almond; yellow is so elusive!

Just found your other post! Sorry about that:) I wouldn't want to upset the hubby by moving anything so guess we leave the shower curtain rod were it is. Found these for for thought as I mentioned in your other post. Read this thread and everyone else has covered color so I won't. Good luck Soosun, show us when it's done.

In a small space a very dramatic wallpaper will totally transform your bath.

Once you select your colors then I would get a few small accessories, shelf, plant etc.

I would also go dramatic with your shower curtain by going custom all the way to the ceiling.

I would agree with you KHB interiors if Soosun didn't have such a heavy orange peel texture one the walls. She would have to apply a special backing first and then the wallpaper. But that's a pretty heavy texture and in a moist environment maybe not such a good idea for that type of application. I so do love wallpaper tho!

If I were going to spend money for liner and wall paper and to have it hung I would rather just talk (nag) Hub into tiling (sp?) the shower and putting in a new tub, which is what I really want to do. The paint is already beginning to checker around the tub surround and that has prompted the new paint for the room. Possibly more talking needed, you think? But I will definitely raise the shower rod; great idea, and why I didn't realize that when we were hanging all the rods. Possibly because I could not find any long shower liners at the time. It is 80 miles to the largest city. We live in the desert in southern Utah. It was 8 years ago after all, and I am much more internet savvy! Again thanks for all the great input, but no wall paper, will paint the ceiling, maybe change out the faucet? Have my art work, now just look for shower curtain and rug. Suggestions appreciated if you are willing? Thank you.

Soosun2, not sure if you want to go the custom route with your shower curtain . I usually have them made and the liner custom made at the same time of a very non- porous quick drying fabric. This way everything fits perfectly and I like to have towel trimmed in the same fabrics to give a custom look. If not restoration hardware has 84" shower curtains which should help. If you go custom, you can find a fabric with a lot of impact, go to the ceiling and down to the floor. Then decide on your paint colors etc. a few pics of a examples. Hope it help. Even used the fabric to trim the rug.

tin tiles on the walls.....order on line company in Florida It comes in colors great addition, and no more maintenance. I put a shower pole in the shower area and hung pocket holder for shampoos, cloths, soaps, etc., also put shower curtain hooks for anything else you like to have in the shower, eliminating the bending over thing, and the shelves that get nasty after a while.

ohm, and shower doors which make the room look so much bigger and neater.
