What is your soil mix? Seems kind of different.

It's an orchid mix from RePotMe. It contains rice hulls, coconut husk chips, perlite, and granite chips. I switched this last spring and really like it so far.

Do you like it for orchids or for gesneriads? The reason - orchids as far as I can guess - like the watering and then drying, Streptocarpus - too, Most of the gessies prefer a consistent moisture. The coconut husks - if kept wet - deteriorate producing phenols which are not good. So any kind of coconut product - like coir- is good for a short time - like summer season, the winter freeze kills petunias in a coir mix before this mix goes bad. So - watch it.

I will, Irina. Thanks. I've said from the beginning that this winter will be the true test of this medium for me. If I notice anything going downhill, I'll repot into peat.
