We love you sharing too! Great looking roses! What is the name of the white one? I always look forward to your beautiful roses, they look fantastic!

I was responding while you were adding more beauties! Love Deborah and your Queen Elizabeth blooms are lovely! I have one that's just sitting there. I used to have three of them that were beautiful! I love all your blooms!

Sara, I look forward to you pics as well. The white in the 2nd and 4th rose bed pic is Artemis.

Your roses look great Sharlene! I love your selection. What do you use for under planting, may I ask? I really like the construction of your raised beds, they look excellent.

My Artemis is putting out yet another flush too. I absolutely love this rose.

Thanks Ninkasi! Artemis was actually a wrong delivery, was supposed to have been Old Port, but now I am so glad that I have it! It has hardly been without a bloom the whole season. And it is very healthy!!! Great rose!

The roses in the raised beds are surrounded by boxwood and in between the are some Helianthemum, Campanula and Alchemilla. I have used blue annual Lobelia in some of my other beds but I altenate the annuals, sometimes low growing Marigolds (Lemon Drop) or white Alyssum, all depends;)

What a beautifully green place! I love the roses, but especially with the lush green grass and forests in the back.

Another Californian appreciating the gorgeous green.

Boxwood is a favorite of mine for edging rose beds but I dislike keeping it neat. Instead, in an informal setting, I used Agapanthus and it looked great year round in So. Ca.

Love your blooms, glad you included some buds too.

They're all beautiful Sharlene. I love seeing your unusual ones that we can't get over here. Makes me jealous! LOL Love that HEINZ WINKLER!! Aren't you glad I enabled you into getting GOLDEN MONICA? She's so lovely. And man, I really should get that darn SUTTERS GOLD, seeing as how I live in "gold country" not too far from it's namesake. That bloom kinda reminds me of my DR DEBAT. I guess I'll hafta put it on my wish list for the coming season.....

    They're gorgeouos, Sharlene!

Wow! You have some of the healthiest most beautiful roses on GW!! Always enjoy looking at them! Thanks for sharing, Judy.

    I love that Little Artist!

I am very happy that you shared.

    Wow! They are lovely!

I second all the above comments. All I can do is just drooling over your picturesque garden scenes and lovely roses.

    Oh how wonderful!!

Your 2nd unknown red rose may be Alec's Red. But I'm not sure.

I love, love, love your Golden Monica!!! Your Big Purple looks amazing!! Love the bloom form!

I also love your garden shots, especially the one next to the sidewalk.

    What a treat!

Sharlene, thanks for sharing your beautiful roses and gardens. I love Sutter's Gold; mine only looks like that very late in the season.... The rest of the time it looks like old dish rags, but my gramps grew it when I was a small child and I always loved the colours and perfume,so it is a nostalgia rose for me.

Thank you all for your comments!!

As I mentioned, it is just great to be able to share with you. I don't have any friends who are interested in gardening, let alone ones who are 'rose nuts'! Actually amazing how this forum makes the world seem so small with members spread all over the globe although most of you are in the US.

Irisgal, Agapanthus would be great between the roses - I used to grow them when I still lived in South Africa. Unfortunately, they are not winterhardy here.

Beth - Golden Monica is just great and thanks to you she is now in my garden!!! The blooms last forever and she hasn't shown any signs of PM or BS! Blue River on the other hand, is the WORST this year for BS - defoliated completely!

As for Sutter's Gold - not really my favourite rose. Good color, healthy and smells great but I think the blooms are rather messy when they open. Melodye, I don't know if that is what you mean by old dish rags. Best to appreciate SG when the bud has just opened IMO. It is however a rose I just had to get because of the name - even if it was Sutter's SkyBluePink, I would have bought it. And of course, General Sutter has his roots in Switzerland;)

Carol, thanks for the suggestion - sure looks similar but HMF describes it as having a strong fragrance. I had another wiff today - nothing! So it will remain a mystery rose like a couple of others that I have.

    Thanks again everyone

Amazing garden and roses!! I love them all!

Your roses and garden is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing.

Artemis, love it. And love the name too. What a nice full bloom.

Thanks all! Artemis is really a lovely rose - maybe one of the big nurseries will introduce it in the US or CA one day.

It is too bad that it is so hard to get Tantau roses in the US. I have been really happy with their performance and disease resistance. I have two Artemis and they are great. I tried to get another but was stopped by dh who was begging for color. Oh well I love them, and I thank you for introducing me to this variety through your pictures! I'd say that mix up was heaven sent!

Thanks again for sharing Sharlene! There are some more winter hardy agapanthus so you might be able to try some varieties. Don't count them out entirely.

    Great pics of Artemis, Ninkasi!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind about the agapanthus but right now I am thinking about where I am going to plant the 30 odd roses I have just ordered. There might not be enough space to plan agapanthus in between:) Will have to see.

Sharlene, your roses are lovely and the hardscape design of your garden is outstanding. It must be a joy to work in such a garden and strive to make it ever more beautiful.

Thanks Ingrid, it really is a joy isn't it.
