Looks black so I think it rotted off. What you can do is remove about three rows of leaves, painful I know. But this will give you a stem, cut the stem above the rotted section into clean tissue gently scrape the stem with a knife or finer nail this will remove the leaf stumps. Make fresh mix, add lots of perlite for drainage. Choose a small pot and replant the violet. It will reroot. Now most people place the entire pot wit violet in a clear plastic bag, this help it to look in humidity until the plant gets roots. I live in Jamaicawhich is very hot so I don't. Also just Bearley moisten the soil, don't want it too wet. And if you place it in the bag you won't need to water for a while. VELLETA

Yep ... just remove a few of the leaves lowest on the stem and plunk it into an appropriately sized pot of AV soil mix. Keep it moist ... and the plant will re-root within a month or so.
