Your tree looks alright to me Phil. The yellowing leaves, if at the bottom of caudex is normal and could just be natural leaf sensecsense.

Hey thanks guys appreciate the input.

Rick it's pretty much my first batch of adenium seeds I sowed when I first fill-in love with them. This was one of the batch I sowed 24th April 2015. I basically sowed it indoors on a windowsill then put it in my mini greenhouse thing outside when the better weather arrived and also had it under a cheap LED for a couple of weeks. This was before I had a tent or Mars light.

Will get a pic of it from the side for a better view but compared to say Martins and pagans, well most on this forum lol its much smaller and has been quite slow growth. These seeds came from the AdeniumStore in the UK which I was told a while back is an expensive place to buy from, which I now see myself since I had my eyes opened to the suppliers used on here.

Phil, your seedling is, in fact, right on schedule. That's about the time I start fertilizing my seedlings, because around that age they start doing that. What's the deal with the superthrive stuff, yo. Isn't that a rooting thing? That's just vitamins and hormones and fifty other proprietary stuff that manufacturers do not disclose. Get them food, man. Food! Something with some nice crunchy nitrogen, phosphate and potassium. And minute amounts of micronutrients that potted plants need.

The above is the same plant just more of a side shot to show growth. I took out the growing tip quite early as an experiment so maybe this can slow or stunt the growth aswell as forcing branching?

Phil, I did the same thing (pinching out terminal bud) and it definitely slows them. Just an experiment to see how they turn out.

your seedling look amazing and I would think with the growth it is showing. Will prove to be a nice tree.

Pagan - shizzle, I have been really dense I think. Superthrive I read was apparently used by adenium growers and was reportedly an excellent product, not I read the bottle, and is states " use for transplanting and Maintaining all horticultural needs, reduces transplant shock " etc it's derived from Kelp but only has 0.5% nitrogen so maybe this should be used for my root juice, right? I assumed it was good for a feed, think not then?

Now the other feed I have is Chempak no.8 which says is a low nitrogen feed and the numbers on the box are 12.5 - 25 - 25. The 12.5% number is nitrogen. It also has trace elements in it all be it very small amounts, Inc boron, iron cover, manganese, magnesium and zinc.

Is this worth using for adenium or shall I buy some proper stuff as I want the good stuff for my plants not stuff that will be OK if I don't have anything else lol

Rick - thanks man. My real test is when my new seeds arrive as I know they are from good stock from what people have said on here so next time round in a few weeks I might be able to show a few little beefcakes of my own lol

Hi Phil, I've brought mine indoors now and they're dropping their leaves like nobody's business. I think they are shedding for their winter sleep. That's a lovely plant and they appear to have a lovely red colour to the leaves. I may get get a light unit next year but it all sounds a tad complicated . I shall wait till next year and see how you have got on with yours lol

Always good to see how others get on, both success and failure so people thinking of taking the plunge can bypass the mistakes and get right in there.

I will be posting plenty over the winter when my new seeds arrive as they will start life in a grow tent under my LED as I hope to show people that even us in the UK can grow these plants like the big boys overseas, a bit like Martin is doing in his poor climate, but Martin knows waaaay more than me on the subject but it's the likes of him and everyone else on here who I can learn from and hopefully help newcomers out myself in the future. I class the majority of people on here as my mentors and in turn very soon I hope to show them I too can grow some belters like everyone else on here :)

This Chempak with micronutrients should be sufficient. Use 1/4 or 1/2 of the recommended concentration and water daily when active and growing.

Just put some half strength into a tray and stood the pots in it for 10mins to soak some up :)

Martin - don't think my plants will dry out enough to be able to water daily, I have been watering every 3/4 days lately, even then they are not totally dry, unless when I water them I am too generous with the water?

Sorry Martin I am not intentionally contradicting you but I don't want to see Phil kill his precious crop. Martin are you using the smaller containers for the sake of space? Or are you attempting to underpot them to elicit a response from the trees?

There are tons of discussions about feeding container plants, search specifically for posts made by Al Tapla. If you want to skip all that, the bottom line is this: the NPK (nitrogen/phosphorus/potassium) ratio you want is 3:1:2 for optimum growth. What you have at the moment, I am guessing, is a bloom booster of some kind. I use a 9:3:6 fertilizer at half strength. I agree with Tracy about watering frequency in the size of pots you have. Young seedlings will be fine Even if they dry out, just don't let them dry out too long (too long will be a week or two).

Personally, I water my plants daily. Newly spouted seedlings need to be very moist, and the bigger plants in gritty mix get absolutely baked in the desert sun here. The most important thing is to keep plants from getting too dry. Everyone's environment will be a different not only due to geographical location, but potting media and type of pot. There is no one answer. The best is to experiment and figure out what works for you.

never burns, by the time there first true leafs is out, i feed my soil with more microbes, so that they can start working on the seedlings roots, i forgot to take picture on some of my arabicums when i pulled them out the other day, probably ill take pic on the next batch

Just ordered some dyna gro foliage pro from an orchid shop online in uk delivered for £25 for 32 oz so should last a while :)
