What does the rest of the space look like?

I don't like split closets, they waste a lot of space. You aren't working with a massive area either.

There is very little storage in your plan.

thank you. We need split closets! Different strokes for different folks. On the storage, yes I agree. In the little nook outside the shower , we are going to build in some storage and a seat.

I might pocket the door to 'her closet' unless you don't think it will just always be left open? One of those things that just depends on the user.

The only other thing that sticks out to me is that the only natural light coming into the bathroom is through the shower, and the shower has mostly a solid wall. It might be worth putting the beach at one end or along the exterior wall so you could have more glass on the interior, thus letting in more light.

The changes look really good though! Nice space... A little jealous!

I like the layout. I'd suggest a mirrored (and thus dual-function) pocket door on her closet. I wouldn't want the door always in the way of the sink. Also be aware that the dresser at the bottom of her closet will make the rods and shelves on either side pretty inaccessible, because it will take up all the space between the clothes.

Will you have a second shower head on the opposite wall?

I totally agree with the split closets. We have one huge one, and I wish we had separate closets. I also agree with the pocket door on the "hers" closet & "his" too if you have enough space in the wall there. I would probably put the bench in the shower in a different place.

Weedyacres - probably won't have one on opposite wall as that will be 7' feet apart and also right in view of the open shower door ,just seemed weird to me. We'll do one fixed head, one head on a bar and probably an overhead.

Mark_Rachel - where would you put the bench? I don't want it where if you use it, anyone in the bathroom would be staring at you so I was either thinking where it's drawn OR on the opposite wall.

Another question I have is whether we should center the head between the walls or between the wall and the bench, if that makes sense.

Lastly, I totally agree with pocket door on the Hers but my wife hates pockets. I think swinging it the other way (still out) would be much better though as at least it could be opened all the way and lay flat against the adjacent wall.

I'd put the bench on the opposite wall. That way whomever is in the shower can see other people in the bathroom. I don't like the idea of having my back to the rest of the bathroom while sitting on the bench. It can be startling.

I envy your space. We may be able to make our apartment 5 x 7 bathroom into 7.5 x 7 but it may not be worth it since the cost to move the waste line may be prohibitive. As I've commented before on this plan, I don't want a closet IN a bathroom.

A good pocket door is great for a closet like this. We have one and we tend to leave the door to the closet open all the time and therefore the door is not in the way, but could be closed if needed. We also have a pocket door between the laundry and kitchen hallway that we leave open most of the time and will close occasionally to block noise from the dryer. Works great and no door conflict.

You could also move the dresser to another wall in the closet and have the door open into the closet where you had your dresser drawn and store less used clothes behind the door.
