Updating Kitchen with Paint

Hello!

We have medium to dark wood cabinets in our kitchen. They are a very honey, warm color. I gravitate to more cool-toned colors and would prefer different cabinets altogether...IF they were not hand made by my husband's grandfather. They are obviously staying and we are looking to update the kitchen by changing the wall color. Any suggestions that would both freshen the room and complement the cabinets would be appreciated...thank you!

Greens and blues look fabulous with medium to dark wood tones. Olive green is great as are grayish green and grayish blue.

Before you get carried away painting, you also want to take your countertop and flooring into consideration as the paint needs to work with them as well.
