Bedding for worms

I keep hearing that using a mix of different materials for worm bedding is beneficial for both the worms and the finished product. The different shapes and textures improve air flow, and the variety of material types improves nutrition balance in the vermicompost. My bucket bin was bedded entirely with shredded paper; today I mixed in toilet paper tubes, brown dead leaves from various sources, shredded old cotton shorts from an outdoor compost heap, corrugated cardboard from an old box, and some coffee grounds for food.

My question is, how does one say "Worms ate my underwear" while keeping a straight face?
