New citrus trees

last modified: 11 years ago

I just bought a one gallon calamondin and a Meyer's lemon tree at Home Depot. The calamondin is full of fruit and had one very soft and orange fruit, so I was able to get a taste. It was not as tart as I was expecting. It was actually pretty good! Had good flavor/tartness with some sweetness. I'm tempted to get another for just $9.98. The Meyer's lemon has some fruit but I want it for grafting. I intend to graft some of my cara cara to it, in addition to seedless kishu. I want to expand my collection but running out of room. So, having a cocktail tree with 3 or 4 types will be a great solution. I know they'll compete for resources but I've had success with a 4 in 1 pluot tree, so I'm encouraged this will be a success too.Does anyone have experience with a cocktail citrus tree that can provide some tips? I intend to keep these in containers.
